Tailor, Custom. Develop designs and make tailored garments, such as suits, topcoats, overcoats, and other dress clothing, applying principles of garment design, construction, and styling: Confer with customer to determine type of material and garment style desired. Measure customer for size and record measurements for use in preparing patterns and making garment. Develop designs for garments or copies existing designs. Draw individual pattern for garment or alter standard pattern to fit customer's measurements. Outline patterns of garment parts on fabric and cut fabric along outlines, using scissors. Assemble garments, sewing padding to coat fronts, lapels, and collars to give them shape and joining garment parts with basting stitches, using needle and thread or sewing machine. Fit basted garment on customer and mark areas requiring alterations. Alter garment and join parts, using needle and thread or sewing machine. Sew buttons and buttonholes to finish garment. 4 Years experience.
