Areas of Responsibility:

The National Park Foundation is the official non-profit partner of the National Park Service. The mission of the NPF is to strengthen the enduring connection between the American people and their National Parks. This paid internship is a six-month assignment and will report directly to the Director of Development and Special Events.

Responsibilities are, but not limited to, as follows:

  • Assist in the planning and production of Foundation Board , donor meetings, and other special events as assigned.

  • Assist in the production of NPF publications sent to both internal and external audiences.

  • Research and prepare reports on prospective corporations, foundations, and major donors.

  • Assist in the production of Board & corporate meeting materials.

  • Assist in the maintaining of Board and donor files, contact information, and biographical information.

  • Produce briefing materials for key development meetings attended by the senior staff of the Foundation.

  • Assist with office general duties such as front desk coverage, mail sorting and distribution, and light kitchen maintenance.

Position requirements:

  • Self-starter who works successfully with little supervision or instruction.

  • Excellent communication skills with both external and internal audiences

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to design and produce publications in Microsoft Publisher a plus.

  • Experience with special events

  • Experience using and other Internet research tools.
