PC Desktop Services Coordinator

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing front-line PC and network support for faculty, staff and students. Specific duties include supporting, installing and configuring network-based applications, administrative applications and local network services such as printing and network disk. The position also includes hardware troubleshooting for desktop systems, portable computers and mobile devices as well as determining appropriate specifications for new desktop purchases. Enforcing security policies, identifying and correcting possible security weaknesses will also be required. Daily tasks are managed through a web-based tracking system and timely response to help requests are high priority. The successful candidate will be available via phone, pager and email during regular work hours, however, some off-hours work will be required as well.

Qualifications:

BS degree in computer science or related field plus at least one year of experience providing technical support to end users. The candidate must be proficient with Windows XP and have one or more years experience configuring systems for networks and installing a variety of PC hardware and software. The applicant should have demonstrated knowledge and experience using and troubleshooting a variety of standard desktop applications such as Office, email, Internet browsers and anti-virus tools. Applicant should also be experienced with Windows 2000/2003 server and domain administration as well as security risk and diagnostic software tools. Excellent customer service and team-work skills are essential. Applicant must be detail and process oriented, capable of handling multiple priorities and demands, and have effective communication skills. Desirable skills include basic HTML authoring and troubleshooting, Linux, samba, MySQL, PHP, ColdFusion and Microsoft Vista.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience.
