Areas of Responsibility:

Plans, organizes and provides occupational therapy to facilitate development and rehabilitation of mentally, physically or emotionally handicapped children. Evaluates and treats children with special needs, including autism, oral/motor/feeding disorders, cerebral palsy, neurological delays/disorders, cognitive and developmental delays, deafness and brain injury disorders. Plans treatment programs, using sensory integration therapy (SI), Motor Learning and neuro-developmental techniques (NDT). Provides therapy to teach children Daily Living skills. Uses assistive technology to improve communication and writing skills. Evaluates students using standardized tests, clinical and classroom observation, record review and interview. Evaluates sensory-motor skills, fine motor coordination and handwriting. Participates in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings to develop and update goals and reports. Prepares detailed IEP reports, treatment plans, progress reports and makes treatment recommendations to multi-disciplinary team members and parents.
