Diamond Setter: Set diamonds in rings, earrings, bracelets, brooches, metal optical frames, and other jeweled items, using hand tools. Place item in vise. Cut and file setting to accommodate diamonds, using files, chisels, and hand electric drills. Position diamond in setting and fix in place by pressing prongs around diamond, by raising retaining metal ridge around diamond, or by tapping edges of setting tool and hammer, forcing metal against diamond. Smooth edges, using emery file and pointed steel tool. Examine union of diamond and setting, using magnifying glass. Drill holes in settings preparatory to setting diamond in piece.
